Improved tissue characterisation with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Improved tissue characterisation with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in identification of ARF
Investigators:Andrew Taylor, Graeme Maguire, Sarah Gutman, Tom Marwick.
Aims: This study aims to determine if cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is a useful tool in the diagnosis of ARF; determine if global longitudinal strain correlates with T1 time; and improve the accuracy of ARF diagnosis, in particular borderline cases, to improve appropriate administration of secondary prophylaxis.
Timelines: Recruitment of ARF group currently underway; non-ARF group recruitment to commence shortly. Recruitment of non-infective group expected early 2018.
