The Heart Foundation Research Grants
Congratulations to END RHD CRE Chief Investigator, Associate Professor Anna Ralph, and researcher, Dr Joshua Francis on being awarded a Heart Foundation Research Grant.
Both recieved a Vanguard Grant designed to test the feasibility of innovative ideas for the prevention and treatment of rheumatic heart disease.

Congratulations to Dr Bo Remenyi - Northern Territory Australian of the Year
Darwin cardiologist and END RHD CRE collaborator Dr Bo Remenyi was named NT Australian of the Year on 15 November 2017.
Dr Bo was recognised for her work in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic heart disease. Her advocacy efforts for the communities she serves have raised awareness of the disease both nationally and internationally and are leading to new treatments and better outcomes for patients.

Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease Resolution Recommended by WHO Executive Board
On 1 June 2017, the Executive Board of the World Health Organization recommended a Resolution on ‘Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease’ for adoption at the 71st World Health Assembly in 2018.
Once adopted by the full World Health Assembly after further discussions in May next year, the Resolution will represent the first global commitment on RHD to be endorsed by all governments. Click here for further information on what the Resolution will mean for the RHD community around the world.
2016 AMA Report Card on Indigenous Health - A Call to Action to Prevent New Cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease in Indigenous Australia by 2031
The 2016 Australian Medical Association Report Card on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health was launched in November last year and focused on the enormous impact that rheumatic heart disease is having on Aboriginal people in Australia. The Report Card calls on Australian governments to prevent new cases of RHD reported among Aboriginal Australians by 2031.
